Lolita52 - Part L

38. Favourite hair style
I think short bangs (doesn't have to be straight) and cascading curls are my favourite. Updo's are also very nice, and convey an air of elegance I like with classic Lolita outfits :D

Example pictures, taken from tumblr;

39. Most versatile Lolita item I own
Probably my blouses. They suit both classic and sweet, because they're quite plain and place emphasis on the prints of dresses (almost all of my dresses have prints).

40. 5 inspirational fictional characters
I think Matilda was quite inspirational, from the Roald Dahl novel, because she loved reading and so did I. Her adventure and subtle magic really made me think that devouring fiction was positive.
Another inspirational character is that of Artemis Fowl, heh. He's so awesomely evil it's hard to dislike him, and was the first book where I realised sometimes it's hard to dislike the 'villain' and that everyone has their own story.
Talon of the Silver Hawk from Raymond E Feist's Midkemia series is also a great inspiration, his persistence and sense of duty are beyond imaginable.
A fourth character who inspires me is from the manga Love Berrish, Yuya. Even after not being successful in her romantic attempts, she doesn't get angry/jealous at her friends or the girl who ends up with the guy she was after. She's someone whose personality I want to work towards and eventually embody c:
The last character on my list has to be Haldir from the Lord of the Rings. Simply because he's so dashing xD

Lolita52 - Part K

34. Wardrobe blunders! Things I bought that I ended up regretting!
Definitely my Infanta Sleeping Beauty JSK... it looks so wonderful on the site, but it's really too OTT for me to wear every day, and I do prefer my pieces to be wearable daily. Another one I'm on the fence about is the IW Emmelina JSK, because the bust part doesn't sit well on my body, and makes it look really odd no matter what blouse I wear :/

35. What I thought when I got my first real piece of Lolita
I was super excited, although perhaps not as much as some people might be, since my very first Lolita piece was brand. It was quite an event though, because I'd managed to snag one of my dream prints as my first dress, and for a good price :)

36. Nails to match my favorite looks
I don't really match my nails with my outfits, because I don't usually paint my nails! Even if I do paint them, they're quite plain. I really admire people who do acrylics though, they can be so amazing.

Here are two pages I really like from NailUp, though:
 November 2012 edition

37. Something that's not my style, but I love anyways
Probably most Juliette et Justine's pieces. I wouldn't wear them as they're too fancy and have human faces on them, but they're super lovely to look at. My favourites at the moment are Star Money, and Le Cadre du Chat:

The other thing from JetJ that I love is La Bibliothique, and I would most definitely wear it if I was ever to get my hands on one *_*

Lolita52 - Part J

30. How long it took me to build a complete wardrobe
I still don't have a complete wardrobe, I'm missing bloomers, longer petticoats, blouses, cardigans and accessories! But I suppose one can never have enough of those any way xD
I got most basics about 2 months into Lolita, but I think that is because I spent a large sum of my savings. I'm not sure that that is normal though `u`

31. Impulse buys that were totally worth it
Basically all of my dresses are impulse buys OTL I love most of them though! (will talk about the ones I don't enjoy so much in 34)

32. My best deal
Probably would have to be my Innocent World Oddment Pack! I split it with one of the other girls in my comm whose preferences were quite different from mine and so was her size, so it ended up being a great deal. We both got what we wanted and everything of mine fits well (except this one blouse which is far too large on me).

33. Something that I made
I haven't made anything clothing-related for Lolita, as my sewing skills aren't great, and I seem to end up spending more on materials than I would have if I'd just bought the item outright ._.
I still have 3 meters of tulle and a roll of elastic I'd meant to turn into a petti since around February, just sitting in my room :'D

I do, however, have lots of polymer clay accessories that I've made over the years, although they're mostly only suited for sweet Lolita

Some cookies I made, which were then made into hair pins

Lolita52 - Part I (i!)

27. Purses that I love
I especially love treasure chest bags, they're so darn pretty, but seem kind of impractical xD
This is one of AatP's:
Another design that I like is Innocent World's book bags, which are very versatile:

28. Bloomers or no bloomers?
I personally don't do bloomers, because I usually wear tights.
But if I were to wear socks with a short dress and/or very puffy petticoat, I would definitely at least wear bike shorts. I think bloomers would be nice in that situation, but since that doesn't happen often for me, I just haven't bought any yet

29. Lolitafying things in my everyday life
To be honest, I don't really mix Lolita with my everyday life haha! It's just a fashion that I'm interested in, and clothes that I wear, but they haven't affected how I live my life. Sorry for such a boring answer! :1

Lolita Closet Confidential

So this just came up on EGL, and I think it's really interesting so I'll give it a shot!

1. What is the oldest item in your wardrobe/closet?
Most likely my AatP Stained Glass Angel, which was released in 2009. Most of my other dresses date from 2012 onwards

2. What is the newest item?

The newest things I've received are a large batch of tights from taobao and two bags, but not counting those, the dresses from my Innocent World oddment pack~

3. What is the most expensive item?

Again, my AatP Stained Glass Angel JSK. It cost me so much, I still haven't worn it outside even once, as I'm super scared of damaging it T_T

4. What is the cheapest/most affordable item?

If we're talking about dresses, then the ones from Infanta are definitely the cheapest, but I also own a bodyline new with tags skirt I got for quite cheap as well

5. What was the biggest bargain?

I think most of my pieces (other than Stained Glass Angel) were bought at very good prices. I mostly only buy from the second hand community (although a lot of the time I score new with/without tag items!) and when I do purchase directly from brands, I only buy the sale items with large mark downs

6. What was the biggest waste of money?!

Perhaps my Infanta pieces. They're on the cheap side, but I really don't wear them very much because they're very opulent :/

7. What are your three favorite items right now?

Printed tights, my replica BTSSB air mail three way bag and the Tea Time JSK I received from my IW pack

Lolita52 - Part H

17. My first meetup
My first meet up with local Lolitas from my Brisbane community was for the 2014 Easter picnic! It was super fun and everyone was so nice. I really enjoyed the day because the hostesses were very organised and secured a great secluded, shady spot. We had a chocolate egg hunt and gift swap as well as lots of food, I'm very glad I went and met all the girls *u*

25. Best places to wear Lolita
I think any where outside of a stressful environment is a good place to wear Lolita! For example, I wouldn't suggest wearing it for rock climbing or at a music festival where you know you'll be worried about getting your dress dirty, but other than that it's all good I reckon. My favourite places though, are at restaurants / cafes, because most of the time I'll be sitting down and will be able to use napkins to prevent stains. Another nice place to wear Lolita is when going to a botanical garden or park, but it can get very hot in the dresses. University is also a good place to wear classic Lolita, I think it gives off a very elegant air heh.

26. How I get out of a wardrobe slump
There are times when I feel like I have no Lolita clothes to wear, or just nothing very interesting or that I haven't worn before. That's okay though! I usually just go back into casual, and try something different with my casual clothes. I find that getting away from Lolita for a bit really helps, and it also breaks some of the momentum I get from wearing and trying to coordinate different every day Lolita looks. It also helps if you alternate between OTT / very lavish styles to more casual and almost "ita" outfits. Sometimes I'll just pull out an accessory and try to make things match with that, which is very fun and lets me experiment more.
